Not much to say here since I hope the photos will speak for themselves as the landscape rolled past ranging from narrow canals to open vistas of brilliant green paddy fields; watched the local villagers go about their daily chores; listened to a mullah calling the faithful to mid-day prayer and watching the egrets and herons as they languidly fly above the sparling waters with - yes – a flash of iridescent blue as a kingfisher darted for cover in the trees. I saw two but all too quick for photos.
The first water bird is an Egret and the second a Snake Bird.
All too soon it was time to re-board the busses for another hair-raising ride back to the ship.
Tomorrow (6th Feb) will no doubt be another hair-raising trip as I tour Colombo by Tuk-Tuk and Friday will see me travelling north to the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawella. So a couple of hectic days coming up followed by 3 days at sea as we cross the Bay of Bengal to Yangon.
