An excellent buffet breakfast was followed by a chance to hold a python – no thanks not my ‘cup of tea’ - or to have a photo taken with a family of Sumatran Orang-utans in the background who sit patiently on a platform enjoying their breakfast but not adverse to giving their keepers the odd cuff when asked to pose for the paparazzi! There is no shortage of takers but I opt for my own pictures.
I should explain here that the Zoo has had particular success in breeding Orang-utans in captivity.
I just love the look of determination on the youngster’s face and what about the big guy on the platform in the tree – boy-oh-boy does he look like he’s got the hump! Perhaps he wasn’t selected this morning to pose for the visitors.
