Feet cleaned we made the short journey to Shwethalyaung to view the reclining Buddha. This time we were advised to remove our shoes and socks in the bus since the entrance stairway up to the Buddha was packed with souvenir stalls.
This magnificent sculpture dates from the reign of King Miga Depa and was completed in 994. It is 180 feet long and 56 feet high.
