Sunday 2nd March 2014: GMT + 10hrs It¹s a Long Way to Honolulu, Hawaii & I May Fade Along the Way

Well not literally you understand but I’m pretty sure the Wi-Fi will not be up to much mid-Pacific so you may have to wait until I emerge from “The dark side of the moon” until Wi-Fi connection is restored.

As I write it is just after Noon on Sunday 2nd March.  We left Yokohama, Japan yesterday evening at 11.00pm for this epic 9 day 3464           Nautical Miles or 3926 Statute Miles of the North Pacific for our next port of call Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii USA where we are scheduled to arrive on Monday 10th March.

We will not cross the Equator but we will cross the International Dateline commencing at mid-night on Thursday 6th March when it will be Thursday 6th March again!!  This will be my first experience of such a crossing. So at 11.59pm on your 6th March I will be 12 hours ahead of GMT UK and at 00.01am I will be 12 hours behind you!!

Did anyone mention ‘cabin fever’ because I suspect there will be some of that on-board especially since it is wet and windy outside with a rough sea preventing the ‘sun worshipers’ from their usually display of flesh on the top deck!!  Mind you it was rather cold in Tokyo yesterday afternoon reminding me of what it might still be like when I get home on the 20th March.

Mind you apart from the tours I have pretty much confined myself to my cabin for the last 5 days trying to fight-off a viral cold so I may well have gone cabin fever bonkers if I don’t get some relief soon although the symptoms have subsided today but headache and generally feeling “under the weather” – sorry for the pun – it was intended!!

I am just about to publish some postings on Taiwan and will continue to draft postings on Hiroshima 27th February and Yokohama 1st March but as I have mentioned the Wi-Fi maybe too weak to post until we near Hawaii.

Just ne picture to tempt you for Japan and the caption – “Don’t Blink or You Will Miss It”, I’m referring of course to the legendary Japanese Bullet Train.
