Monday 10th March 2014 -10 Hours GMT - Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, USA: A Disconsolate Sojourn in a Coffee Shop!

Delighted with my purchase of the handcrafted fridge magnets I decided to give downtown Honolulu a second chance and so gingerly, avoiding drenches from the passing busses and huge Kenworthy trucks, I thought I would see if the Oceanographic Centre was open.  A foolish quest because it was of course closed on Mondays and since it was threatening to rain again I made my way into a well known coffee shop for a depressing half-an-hour watching locals ordering up thousands of calories of drinks with cries of “Macchiato Vendee (About a litre) with cherry syrup, hold the cream” as if that was going to make much difference to the calorie count.  It reminded of a work colleague whose order for coffee I could never remember: “Tall, wet. skinny latte, hold the froth!!”  Apologies Clare if you read this blog!!

So ended a rather depressing afternoon in Honolulu.  The photo is of one of the better high-rise buildings in this city.
