OK I admit that I have always liked Julia Roberts!!
Seeing the sites for these films was proving to be more interesting than I thought and our next stop was Rodeo Drive – the most exclusive shop street in LA. If you know the film Pretty Woman you will know that she palsy a “Call Girl” whom Richard Gere hires to accompany him to some important business events. He send her off with his credit card to Rodeo Drive where the first shop she enters refuses to serve her because of the skimpy clothes she is wearing. She later returns wearing other brands and says “I bet you wish you had served me now!”
Rodeo Dive had the reputation of requiring customers to make a minimum purchase of $10,000 and to make an appointment. It is not quite the same today except for the one shop shown in the second photo above.
The final photo above is of the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, the primary filming location for the 1990 movie Pretty Woman. The photo shows the balcony which features in the film. This historic hotel is located at 9500 Wilshire Boulevard on the east side of South Rodeo Drive. Wikipedia advises that Elvis Presley and later the actor Warren Beatty lived several years in the hotel. It was also the home of John Lennon, when he had separated for several months from his wife Yoko Ono.
Other Famous guests have included President Barack Obama, the Emperor of Japan, the Dalai Lama as well as the actors Michael Caine, Michael Douglas, Farrah Fawcett, Dustin Hoffman, Elton John, Walter Matthau, and Al Pacino.
