Wednesday 19th March 2014 -7 Hours GMT San Diego, California, USA: Goodbye Balmoral; Hello Los Angeles

I don’t know why but the end of a cruise always comes around too quickly and often catches me by surprise but this time I was ready to disembark having had a trial pack on the last couple of days at sea.  Well I had to be careful since the weight limit for my flight case was 23kgs and remember I had bought a number of ‘handcrafted fridge magnets’ (90 to be exact!!) that weighed quite a bit. It all went in below the limit and just as well since the couple I front of meat LA airport were over the limit and had to repack at the baggage drop!  They were not popular with the queue!!!

I opted to take a tour entitled Los Angeles Highlights that would enable me to take in the sights of San Diego – remember I went to the Zoo the previous day – before driving north to Los Angeles and taking in some of the main sights here before returning to LA Airport for my flight home that was scheduled to leave at 21.45.

So I left the Balmoral at 09.30am and boarded the bus for my last day of sight seeing.

The second photo is of the Gas Lamp District of San Diego; originally the site of bars and bordellos today it is lined with bars, restaurants and shops.
